Crop husbandry is the other branch of agriculture which deals with the growing of crops in arable lands. Crops are divided into horticultural crops and field crops. This branch of agriculture is very important because crops are the source of food for both human beings and animals.

Crop production is one of the most important sections on a farm as it takes the second largest proportion of the farm apart from the animal husbandry section which requires grazing area. The crop husbandry section should be highly productive as it feeds all other sections or enterprises of the farm including the dairy, beef, poultry, rabbit , fish and wild life, not to mention the farmer and his family.
